Them IV

A beautifully illustrated edition detailing the events of the first extraterrestrial war, Them launches a subtle critique of our tendency to reject those who do not conform to our cultures. Crisp drawings abstract the impact of warfare into patterns and texture, accompanied by captions that relay the narrative of the battle between Earth and space invaders. With the story revealing that the aliens only wanted to converse with human beings, the onus of violence and hostility is placed on our species, making for a message that bears particular political relevance today.
