Welcome to Hellhole City

Welcome to Hellhole City is a comic book about neurotic cleanliness, recycling as religious experience, and the practice of digging and filling holes to cope with the universal void. I created this during a period of interest in psychoanalysis. I was raised polish catholic and take comfort and pleasure in the monastic aesthetic – which is the main influence on my characters. Overall, doing things during this period of crisis in neoliberal capitalism sometimes just feels like digging and filling holes. I didn't go to art school, and while I have been privately drawing most of my life, this is my first time making my work public – which was largely thanks to being surrounded by lovely artists and discovering the print studio while on the Newbridge Project’s Collective Studio programme in 2024-25.
